
“THE INDONESIA CHANNEL” GOES GLOBAL
Indonesia’s first 24-hour English-language TV channel made its global debut on June 2, 2014, with a colorful mix of entertainment and information programs.
After six months of preparation, The Indonesia Channel (TIC) began broadcasting its schedule through cable, satellite, internet and mobile platforms.
“The time has arrived for the world’s fourth-most populated country to have its own voice,” said CEO Dalton Tanonaka.
Programming began at 6:30 p.m. Jakarta time with a TIC original production “The Best of Bali” with host Jamie Aditya. A wrap-up of the day’s top news and newsmakers “Today’s Indonesia” airs each weeknight at 10 p.m..
Other signature entertainment programs in the programming day include “Passion for Fashion,” “Executive Golf” and “Yoga Bliss.” Classic Indonesian films are featured in “IndoCinema” and TV series in “Drama Hour,” both subtitled in English.
Information programs include the weekly talk show “Hot Indonesia” and monthly “ASEAN Today” focus on the people and places of Southeast Asia.
Initial distribution of the privately-funded channel include Hong Kong’s NOW TV (channel 521) and Indonesia’s First Media (channel 32), Big TV (channel 683) and UseeTV (channel 187) & useetv.com. Country launches are planned in Singapore and The Netherlands in the near future.
